WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Chip Roy (R-TX-21) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced the “Public Service Reform Act” to make all federal bureaucrats at-will employees and ensure faithful service to the American people.

“It is far past time to reinstate accountability to the people for the federal bureaucracy by requiring that like any private sector employee, federal workers can be removed from their positions,” Representative Roy said. “Notwithstanding the majority of federal workers who faithfully serve, especially our law enforcement personnel, we should not allow a wall of red tape to shield those engaged in noncompliance with the law and brazen political partisanship. Federal employees should keep their jobs based on merit, just like the people they serve.”

The last administration faced unprecedented resistance from an entrenched federal bureaucracy, protected by layers and layers of red tape, dedicated to subverting our constitutional order.

Federal employees entrusted with implementing the President’s agenda often put their own politics over serving the American people who elected the President. The Public Service Reform Act promotes accountability by empowering the President to remove these rogue bureaucrats for not doing their job.

“I’ve spent my life leading organizations of every shape and size. Whether running a small donut shop, America’s largest health care company, or the great state of Florida, I know from firsthand experience the importance of having an effective and dedicated team that share a common mission. It’s clear that the bureaucracy of the federal government is both a waste of taxpayer dollars and inefficient. Red tape and bloated federal agencies constantly slow down progress and hamper American innovation. It’s time to change Washington so it actually work for the American people. The Public Service Reform Act will boost accountability and responsiveness across the federal government by making all executive branch employees at-will. This is commonsense and I urge my colleagues to join us in supporting this good bill,” said Senator Scott.

House cosponsors include Representatives Erin Houchin (R-IN-9), Andy Ogles (R-TN-5), Troy Nehls (R-TX-22), Tom McClintock (R-CA-5), Jeff Duncan (R-SC-3), Lauren Boebert (R-CO-3), Warren Davidson (R-OH-8), Dan Bishop (R-NC-8), Bob Good (R-VA-5), Harriet Hageman (R-WY-AL), and Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL-13). Senate cosponsors include Senator Eric Schmitt (R-MO).
