Senator Pete Flores, who represents Texas’ 24th Senate district, used his social media platform this week to inform constituents about the state’s annual Tax-Free Weekend and to honor service members on Purple Heart Day.
The following day, August 7, he recognized Purple Heart Day with a tribute: “On Purple Heart Day, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to defending our freedoms will never be forgotten. https://t.co/2UsK3XcHcy”.
Flores reiterated the start of Tax-Free Weekend on August 8: “Texans, don’t forget! The annual Back-to-School Tax-Free Weekend starts today and runs through Sunday, Aug. 10. Tax-Free Weekend is an annual event in Texas allowing families to purchase certain school-related items without paying state sales tax for a limited period in August each year. The event is designed to provide financial relief as students prepare for the new academic year.
Senator Pete Flores was elected as a Republican to represent Texas’ 24th Senate district in 2023 after succeeding Dawn Buckingham.
