Senator Pete Flores, who represents Texas’s 24th Senate district, marked several national observances this week through a series of posts on his social media account. Flores, a Republican elected to the Texas State Senate in 2023 after succeeding Dawn Buckingham, addressed topics ranging from constitutional principles to military service and remembrance.
On September 17, Flores posted about Constitution Day: “Today we celebrate the document that secures our liberty and guides our Republic—the U.S. Constitution. I remain committed to my oath to uphold and defend it for the people. Happy Constitution Day!”
The following day, September 18, he recognized the anniversary of the United States Air Force: “For 78 years, the @usairforce has safeguarded our freedom from above. Today, we honor and thank the brave airmen whose service and sacrifice keep America strong.”
On September 19, Flores observed National POW/MIA Recognition Day with another post: “Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the service members who were prisoners of war and those still missing in action. We will never forget their sacrifice and remain committed to bringing every hero home.”
Constitution Day is observed annually on September 17 to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. The United States Air Force was established as an independent branch of the military on September 18, 1947; its founding is celebrated each year by recognizing its contributions to national security over more than seven decades. National POW/MIA Recognition Day is held each year on the third Friday in September to honor American prisoners of war and those missing in action.
Flores’s recent statements reflect his ongoing engagement with both state-level responsibilities and national commemorations.
