San Saba's grocery store, Lowe's Market, has now reopened in a new location that was finished four days after a fire devastated the original store.
Reports say it only took workers four days to prepare the new location. On March 19, San Saba Fire-Rescue and volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at the grocery store that was a blazing inferno when they arrived. Residents were worried because the Lowe's Market is the town's only full-service grocery store.
Until the store reopened, the community was receiving donations from local food pantries and churches in Austin. Officials say the donations from the pantry helped residents receive the food they needed until Lowe's reopened.
The owners of Schwartz Foods in Goldthwaite also donated fresh produce for meals specifically for the elderly residents who rely on Lowe's for their daily meals.
In a recent tweet, "Visit San Saba" wrote: "In what can only be described as amazing, our community pulled together and got our only grocery, Lowe's Market, reopened in a brand new location in only four days after a fire that destroyed the original location."
