CITY OF GRANITE SHOALS: Dr. Steve Hougen sworn in as new Place #4 City Council member

Signing

City of Granite Shoals issued the following announcement on May 27.

Former Place 4 City Councilman Terry Scott tendered his resignation on May 21, 2020, effective May 26, 2020.    At their Regular City Council meeting May 26th;  the Council voted unanimously for Dr. Hougen to step into the position a few months early.  Mr. Scott stepped aside knowing that the City Council is going into the summer budget meeting season.  He wanted the new Place #4 Council Member to be able to contribute and participate fully in the budget process.   Annually, the City Council members hold many additional meetings during the summer, in order to formulate a new budget to adopt for the next fiscal year.  The new budget is adopted in September and begins each year on October 1st.

Dr. Steve Hougen is a retired surgeon.  He has lived in Granite Shoals for eight years.  For the last four and a half years, Dr. Hougen has been a member of the city's Wildlife Advisory Committee.  This committee coordinates the city's Deer Management program.

City Secretary Elaine Simpson administered the Oath of Office to Dr. Hougen at City Hall in Granite Shoals on May 27, 2020.
