Bars in Kerr County recently received approval to reopen, though they are still only permitted to operate at 50% capacity.
Under a directive issued by Gov. Gregg Abbott, local communities were empowered to choose whether or not to permit drinking establishments to reopen at 50% capacity on Oct. 14, according to a Kerr County post on social media.
“A majority of ‘stakeholders’ (community leaders who have worked together to guide the community through the COVID-19 pandemic) advised Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly that they were in favor of bars reopening, in the hopes of aiding legitimate local businesses who have suffered financially because of their extended pandemic closures,” the Facebook post states.
All establishments choosing to reopen under the eased restrictions must still follow all Texas Department of State Health Services and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission rules, according to the post.
Abbott’s order also enables all other businesses to operate at 75% capacity, according to the post.
