SABINAL ISD: Confirmed COVID-19 Positive Case on High School Campus Dec. 24, 2020

Coviddddd

Sabinal ISD issued the following announcement.

This is an official public notice that an employee at the High School tested positive for COVID-19 and informed district officials today; the employee was last present on the final day of school before the holiday break, December 18, 2020.

Due to privacy requirements, we cannot release the name of the individual or details that may identify this person.

The local health department has been notified and a case investigation has been conducted.

All students and staff that came into close contact have been notified.

Our protocol requires those that were in close contact to remain off campus for up to 7-10 days to mitigate the opportunity for spread of the virus.

Fortunately the holiday break ensures that all students and staff are safe due to our closure.

We will keep stakeholders apprised if the situation changes. While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, to watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

Any of the following symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

• Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

• Sore throat;

• New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);

• Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or

• New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever. We ask that any individual who is experiencing any of these symptoms to contact their physician.

Furthermore, we ask that if you know of any person associated with Sabinal ISD that is labconfirmed to have COVID-19 to please notify our school nurse, Cecilia Reyes at 830-988-2436.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our school nurse, Cecilia Reyes at 830-988- 2436.
