WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday, Representative Chip Roy (R-TX-21) introduced the “Passport Sanity Act” to ensure government documents such as passports only include male and female gender designations.

Last year, the Secretary of State began allowing U.S. citizens to select ‘X’ as their gender marker on U.S. passport applications. Representative Roy’s bill would reverse this decision.

“There are two sexes — male and female — and government documents like passports should reflect that self-evident truth,” Representative Roy said. “Passports exist to accurately identify people, not play pretend with radical gender ideology. Anti-science, radical gender ideology has no place in our government, and it's time for Congress to step in and restore sanity.”

Co-sponsors for the bill include Representatives Josh Brecheen (R-OK-2), Randy Weber (R-TX-14), Ralph Norman (R-SC-5), and Bill Posey (R-FL-8).
