WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a united front, Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) and Senator JD Vance (R-OH) have spearheaded a bipartisan effort, leading dozens of their colleagues, to oppose the Biden administration's current request for further funding for the ongoing war in Ukraine. The lawmakers are demanding transparency and accountability in how the funds already appropriated for Ukraine have been utilized.
The lawmakers' message to the White House emphasizes the need for answers and clarity regarding the progress of the counteroffensive in Ukraine. Rep. Chip Roy highlights the concerns, stating, "The American people deserve to know what their money has gone to. How is the counteroffensive going? Are the Ukrainians any closer to victory than they were 6 months ago? What is our strategy, and what is the president’s exit plan? What does the administration define as victory in Ukraine? What assistance has the United States provided Ukraine under Title 10?"
Rep. Chip Roy further emphasizes that it would be irresponsible to grant the administration's request for additional funding without obtaining satisfactory answers to these crucial questions. "It would be an absurd abdication of congressional responsibility to grant this request without knowing the answers to these questions. For these reasons—and certainly until we receive answers to the questions above and others forthcoming—we oppose the additional expenditure for war in Ukraine included in your request," he stated.

This bipartisan effort reflects the growing scrutiny and demand for transparency regarding the use of taxpayer funds in Ukraine. As the situation in Ukraine continues to evolve, lawmakers are determined to ensure that American resources are being deployed effectively and in line with the nation's strategic objectives.
