Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) expressed his support for a $14.3 billion aid package to assist Israel in its confrontation with Hamas. In a statement issued following the votes on Thursday evening, Rep. Roy emphasized Israel's right to exist, defend itself, and protect its people.

"Israel has a right to exist, defend itself and her people, and make Hamas pay for its heinous terrorist attack. Period," Rep. Roy stated.

The aid package, aimed at helping Israel combat Hamas, was offset by rescinding $14.3 billion in funding for the IRS under President Biden's administration. Rep. Roy criticized the decision of 194 Democrats who chose to support the funding for an "IRS army" over helping the Israeli army.

"Shamefully, 194 Democrats chose to fund an army of IRS agents targeting the American people over the Israeli army fighting Hamas," Rep. Roy said.

With the national debt reaching $34 trillion, Rep. Roy emphasized the importance of ensuring that any new funding, regardless of its purpose, is fully paid-for.

"As we stare down $34 trillion in debt, we must ensure that any new funding – for whatever purposes – is paid-for," he stated.

The statement from Rep. Roy highlights his commitment to supporting Israel and his concerns about the allocation of funds in the face of a significant national debt.
