There were 12 Asian students enrolled in Uvalde CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 29.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Uvalde CISD schools welcomed 4,071 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Uvalde CISD roughly covers schools within Uvalde County and has a main office in Uvalde.

Among the seven schools in Uvalde CISD schools, Uvalde High School recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of five students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
