On Monday, Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) released a statement regarding his vote on H.R. 8958.

"Today, I voted against H.R. 8958."

Rep. Roy expressed his support for NASA and its contributions to Texas and the nation but criticized the bill for authorizing substantial unpaid-for spending. He noted that the bill was brought under suspension of the rules, limiting debate and preventing amendments.

"That amounts to an unconscionable end run around the legislative process for an important authorization of a major federal agency. The American people deserve far more from us," he stated.

Rep. Roy emphasized the need for Congress to responsibly fund NASA and ensure proper oversight of government spending.

"Moving forward, Congress must work to responsibly fund NASA and ensure proper oversight is conducted over what this government is doing with the American people's money," he concluded.
