On Wednesday, Representative Chip Roy from Texas appeared on KLBJ radio to discuss his concerns regarding the Biden administration's handling of unaccompanied alien children. He called for the preservation of all records and evidence related to hundreds of thousands of these children who have reportedly gone missing.
During the interview, Roy stated, "Well, this is one of the great you know tragedies of the abuse of the law by the Biden-Harris-Mayorkas regime. We've got 300,000 kids that we don't know where they are."
He emphasized the need for accountability and potential legal consequences if laws were violated: "We need to seek truth wherever it may lead. And if these folks were violating the law, they knew it and people died as a result, then there need to be consequences."
Roy also criticized current priorities within the Department of Justice: “We need a Department of Justice that is, you know, actually focusing on the right things, instead of putting grandmothers in jail for exercising their free speech rights and their religious liberty rights to protest abortion clinics.”
The representative expressed distrust towards Secretary Mayorkas by recalling past incidents: “Remember [Secretary Mayorkas] lied about the whipping of the Haitians by Border Patrol agents… He lied to me under oath in the judiciary committee. So we need to seek truth wherever it may lead. And if these folks were violating the law, they knew it and people died as a result, then there need to be consequences.”
Earlier in the week, Roy had formally requested that all relevant records concerning these missing children be preserved.
