There was one American Indian student enrolled in Real County schools in the 2021-22 school year, 100% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Real County welcomed 532 students during the 2021-22 school year.

Hill Country Youth Ranch was the only school in the county which enrolled American Indian students, welcoming just one in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
