On December 6, 2024, Representative Chip Roy of Texas shared his thoughts on Congress' fiscal responsibilities during an interview with WMAL. He reflected on a recent meeting with Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, focusing on the need for Republicans to address government spending.

During the discussion, Rep. Roy emphasized the role of Congress in managing financial oversight. "But the point I made yesterday in the meeting to my colleagues and I made it to Elon…You’ve been looking for the problem, look no further than this room, because Congress has been the one that has been funding this nonsense. Congress is the one that's supposed to do oversight," he stated.

He challenged his colleagues by asking them to consider their actions if they were unable to print money: "I've said to my colleagues: if you can't print money — if literally it was banned today — what would you do?"

Rep. Roy also called for decisive action from Congress, urging them to cut unnecessary spending and strengthen their resolve. "We need the [spending] waste cutting, but we need Congress to grow a spine," he said.

Finally, he urged Republicans to be accountable and responsive to their constituents' needs: “Republicans need to look in the mirror. They need to look at their constituents and they need to deliver… There's no more money. We can't keep printing.”
