Wes Virdell, a Texas State Representative, has recently communicated several updates and requests through social media regarding the situation in Kerr County. His messages address volunteer efforts and the need for privacy for families affected by recent events.
On July 6, 2025, Virdell expressed gratitude towards those offering assistance in Kerr County but noted that they were currently “overwhelmed with volunteers” and requested that people refrain from entering the area if possible. He suggested that “the best way to help right now is a monetary donation.”
Later on the same day, Virdell advised volunteers planning to assist near river areas to coordinate with the Salvation Army before proceeding. He emphasized the importance of keeping “the river areas and roadways clear.”
In a post dated July 7, 2025, Virdell addressed individuals attempting to contact families who had lost loved ones due to flooding. He urged people to respect their privacy, stating that he would prefer to express this request more forcefully towards those who might be doing so for personal gain. He stated, “This is me saying it kindly. I would prefer to say it in a much different tone.”
The Salvation Army is an international charitable organization known for its work in disaster relief efforts.
