Wes Virdell, Texas State Representative for the 53rd district, posted a series of updates on social media between August 11 and August 12, 2025. The posts included information for Kerr County residents seeking assistance, support for an individual named Andy Hopper, and commentary regarding taxpayer money and recent legislative action.
On August 11, Virdell addressed local constituents in Kerr County: “Kerr County residents,
If you have incurred hardship or damage to your property and you are in need of assistance, please click on this link and fill out the form > https://t.co/uVqERrqmrA
If you are wanting to see where money has been allocated by the Community Foundation,” (August 11, 2025).
Later that day, he expressed his endorsement for Andy Hopper with the statement: “Andy Hopper is the right man at the right place at the right time for the job! https://t.co/MLEnJhMV5f” (August 12, 2025).
In a post from August 12, Virdell commented on government spending: “Hmm, I thought they had a massive deficit. This doesn’t seem like a proper use of taxpayer money. Maybe we should ban this……
Ah, I forgot, I did ban it starting September 1st. https://t.co/CnzCohxNfn” (August 12, 2025).
Virdell was elected as a Republican to represent Texas’s 53rd House district in 2025. He succeeded Andrew Murr as state representative.
