Wes Virdell, a Republican serving as Texas State Representative for the 53rd district since 2025, has announced his intention to run for reelection and commented on political conduct during campaign season through recent social media posts.
On September 19, 2025, Virdell expressed gratitude to his supporters and confirmed his campaign plans. In his post he stated: “It’s campaign season again! I’m incredibly grateful to all of you who have supported me in past elections. Your trust and encouragement have meant the world to me. It’s hard to believe, but it’s already time to gear up for another campaign. I’m running for reelection in the”.
Two days later, on September 21, Virdell addressed what he characterized as differences in political behavior between ideological groups. He wrote: “While it’s unlikely, perhaps the leftists are finally taking notes: Honorable people don’t riot—they stand firm with dignity. The stark contrast between honorable restraint and dishonorable chaos couldn’t be clearer.”

Virdell was elected in 2025 after succeeding Andrew Murr as representative of Texas’s 53rd House district.
