Wes Virdell, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent Texas’s 53rd House district, has recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing national political issues and expressing views on recent events.

On October 15, 2025, Virdell questioned the impact of the ongoing federal government shutdown by asking, “Has anybody else noticed we are doing just fine with the federal government shutdown?”
