Wes Virdell, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent Texas’s 53rd House district, has used his social media platform to discuss issues related to beef labeling and industry control, as well as his political endorsements.
On November 3, 2025, Virdell posted about legislative efforts regarding beef labeling: “I filed a country of origin label bill for beef in Texas and TSCRA (Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association) worked to kill it in the legislature. I am glad to see it getting some discussion right now.”
Later that day, he addressed concerns over consolidation within the beef processing industry: “Also to note, it is my understanding four packing plants process 80% of the country’s beef and two of those four have majority foreign ownership. I think we have screwed up who controls our beef in our country.”
On November 5, 2025, Virdell publicly supported Ken Paxton for U.S. Senate: “This is worth listening to. I support @KenPaxtonTX to be the next US Senator from, Texas.”
Virdell succeeded Andrew Murr as state representative for District 53 following his election in 2025.
