CHEROKEE ISD: ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP)

Asvab

Cherokee ISD issued the following announcement.

Cherokee School is participating in the ASVAB CEP, a FREE career planning tool. The test is for all students in grades 10-12.

Students in high schools across the nation explore post-secondary options and find careers with ASVAB CEP. The ASVAB CEP helps students figure out what they are good at, what is important to them, and the jobs that match their skills and interests. It assesses their ability to learn new skills and predicts future success in a wide variety of careers, whether they choose to go straight to work, attend college, or enter the Military. It is NOT all about the Military; it’s about OPTIONS. Participants have NO obligation to talk to a military recruiter or enter military service. The ASVAB CEP is designed to help young people explore their options and make a plan that aligns with their individual skills and interests.

What to expect:

  • Students don’t have to do any lengthy preparation. How much they have learned through the years will probably make the most difference in their results. Those looking for practice test items can find them here: https://www.asvabprogram.com/student-program
  • About two weeks after the test, results will be available in Mrs. Franco’s office. The post-test interpretation has been scheduled for 2/18/2020. At this session, students will receive access to asvabprogram.com where they will get score interpretation, complete an interest inventory and conduct career exploration activities. They will have access to this portal for up to two years. We encourage you to use this website with your child to discuss post-secondary planning together.
Your student can benefit from this unique opportunity to explore personal potential and the world of work at NO cost and NO commitment. For more information go to https://www.asvabprogram.com/.

We invite you to join the movement and to help inspire young people to become #optionready. Encourage your sophomore, junior or senior to participate.
