Big Springs Charter School District Education: 1 American Indian student was enrolled in schools in 2021-22 school year

There was one American Indian student enrolled in Big Springs Charter School District in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Big Springs Charter School District welcomed 203 students during the 2021-22 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Big Springs Charter School District roughly covers schools within Real County and has a main office in Ingram.

Hill Country Youth Ranch was the only school in the district which enrolled American Indian students, welcoming one student in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
