Harper ISD Education: 584 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 584 students enrolled in Harper ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.2% of them were boys, and 48.8% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 80% of the Harper ISD total enrollment.

Harper ISD roughly covers schools within Gillespie County with its main office in Harper.

Among the three schools in Harper ISD, Harper Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 217 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
