There were 684 students enrolled in San Saba ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 6.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.9% of them were boys, and 49.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 59.8% of the San Saba ISD total enrollment.

San Saba ISD roughly covers schools within San Saba County with its main office in San Saba.

Among the three schools in San Saba ISD, San Saba Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 294 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
