There were 28 Asian students enrolled in San Felipe-Del Rio CISD schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 28 Asian students enrolled in San Felipe-Del Rio CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 15.2% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that San Felipe-Del Rio CISD schools welcomed 9,947 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Asian students comprised 0.3% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

San Felipe-Del Rio CISD roughly covers schools within Val Verde County and has a main office in Del Rio.

Among the 14 schools in San Felipe-Del Rio CISD schools, Del Rio Middle 8TH Grade Campus recorded the highest enrollment of Asian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of nine students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
