On Tuesday, Representative Chip Roy (TX-21) appeared on Bannon’s War Room to discuss the next steps in preventing non-citizen voting. He emphasized the importance of the SAVE Act and its potential attachment to a government spending deadline.

"Every state ought to be very clear that we're going to force that only citizens are voting in our state, local, and federal elections. But the SAVE Act is meant to layer on top of that, to say that no matter what you want to do at the state and local level, only citizens are going to vote for our Congress, Senate, and President," said Roy.

Roy addressed Democratic opposition by stating, "Democrats say, ‘But, Chip, it's not a problem. It's already against the law for noncitizens to vote in federal elections.’ That is technically true, but what they don't go on to tell you is that federal law has been interpreted by courts to restrict the ability of states to actually check the data and collect the information or take the documentary proof of citizenship that has been eliminated by the courts."

He also mentioned potential support from key figures: "So now the question is, will we attach [the SAVE Act] to a funding mechanism in September? I believe we should. President Trump believes we should. Mike Johnson appears ready and willing to do it, and that's where we currently sit."

Roy concluded with a call for action: "That means we'll have a fight in September. Every patriot in America should support. Yes, we'll fund the government into March, even though it has a lot of crap in we don't like. It will fund stupid crap at the FBI, and it will fund an incompetent Secret Service. It'll fund the border situation. But what we want to do is say we're going to give [government spending] to President Trump's administration to fix, and we're going to demand that our elections are secure."
