White students comprised the most prevalent ethnic group in Llano County schools in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 2,055 students attending Llano County schools, 62.2% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 32.5% of the total enrollment.

In the previous school year, white students also made up the largest ethnic group in Llano County, comprising 63.6% of the student body.

Packsaddle Elementary School had the most diverse student body in Llano County, including white, American Indian, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and multiracial.

When compared to the previous school year, total public school enrollment in the county remained the same.

“As a result, many districts in our very own Central Texas region are being forced to cut back on essential programs, services, consider school closures, and adopt deficit budgets just to provide students with the education that they deserve,” Hutto ISD Trustee James Matlock said.
