The Lower Colorado River Authority has delivered a $5,000 grant to the Friends of the Rylander Memorial Library to build a new circulation desk.
The funds are part of the Community Development Partnership Program, which awards over 27 different grants to aid fire departments, emergency responders, local governments and other non-profit organizations. This program is part of the LCRA's campaign to give back to local communities, particularly the City of San Saba, which has been a wholesale customer for a number of years.
“The new desk will be the first thing the public sees as they come into the library,” Mikie Bishop, president of the Friends of The Rylander Memorial Library, said in a press release. “The existing circulation desk has been in use since the library was built in 1976 and is in poor condition. It lacks the proper privacy protection a new desk can provide.”
Another round of grants is slated for 2021 with applications set to open in January.
“This project has been needed for some time and we’re very grateful and pleased to receive this grant," Bishop added. “Without it we would have to use money from our reserve fund. It’s comforting to know there is somebody willing to help communities with these types of projects.”
