Rep. Chip Roy of Texas expressed his support for President Donald Trump's nomination of Derek Maltz as the new Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). In a statement released Tuesday, Rep. Roy highlighted Maltz's extensive experience and dedication to combating drug-related crime.

"I am very happy to see President Trump's nomination of my friend, Derek Maltz, to head up the Drug Enforcement Administration," said Rep. Roy.

Maltz has nearly three decades of service with the DEA, focusing on removing harmful drugs from circulation and addressing associated criminal activities. "Derek is an outstanding choice," added Rep. Roy. "He served for nearly 30 years in the DEA — fighting to get poisonous drugs off the streets and stop the crime those drugs bring with them."

Rep. Roy emphasized Maltz's suitability for the role during a period marked by challenges related to fentanyl and other dangerous substances. "He has an unmatched passion for the job and the skills to back it up," he stated.

The congressman also expressed eagerness to collaborate with Maltz in efforts aimed at enhancing community safety: "I look forward to working with Derek and his team to clean up our streets and make our kids and communities safe again."
