Rep. Chip Roy of Texas has reintroduced a bill aimed at halting federal funding to universities that provide abortion pills to students. The legislation, known as the Protecting Lives on College Campuses Act, seeks to prevent tax dollars from supporting what Rep. Roy describes as "the destruction of innocent life" through unsupervised abortions in college dormitories.
Roy emphasized, "The American people should not be forced to fund the destruction of innocent life through DIY abortions with their hard-earned tax money to begin with. We especially should not be funding colleges that dole these dangerous pills out to students to use in their dorms without medical supervision."
The proposed legislation is backed by several Republican representatives including Randy Feenstra, Daniel Webster, Warren Davidson, Ben Cline, Mike Bost, Clay Higgins, Richard Hudson, John Moolenaar, Dan Crenshaw, Randy Weber, Andy Harris, Michael Guest, Robert Aderholt, Andy Ogles, Gus Bilirakis, Chuck Fleischmann, Mary Miller, Paul Gosar, Troy Downing, Brandon Gill and Barry Moore.
In addition to congressional support, the bill has garnered endorsements from various organizations such as the National Pro-Life Alliance and Students for Life Action. Other supporters include March for Life Action and Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee.
Terry Schilling of the American Principles Project expressed gratitude towards Rep. Roy's efforts: "I want to thank Congressman Chip Roy for introducing this important legislation and taking a principled stand for life and for the family." He urged Republicans to back the initiative.
Wade Miller from Citizens for Renewing America also voiced his support: “The American taxpayer should not be forced to subsidize institutions of higher education that promote and facilitate the ending of innocent human life.”
